Santa Anita carryover at $111,302

ARCADIA, Calif. - A string of longshots on Wednesday has produced a carryover of $111,302 for Thursday's eight-race program at Santa Anita.

The pick six covers the third through eighth races on Thursday.

All of the pick six races have decent-sized fields and should be competitive.

The third race is run over a mile for California-bred maidens. The race has drawn nine entrants, led by Family Guy and Slewsbag, who drew the outside.

The fourth race is a starter allowance over 1 1-16 miles. With eight starters, it is the smallest field in the pick six. Careless Candidate, the mount of Tyler Baze, will be favored.

There are eight runners in the fifth race, following the scratch of Devoted Lover. Run over 1 1-16 miles for $14,000 to $16,000 claimers, the field includes Silver Past (the 2-1 morning-line favorite) and Dad's Lessons (5-2).

College Graduate (listed at 5-2) is the favorite in the sixth race, run over six furlongs for 3-year-old maiden claimers. There will be support for Sporty McGee and Riley's Life. The field was reduced to 12 with the scratches of My Universe and Campaign Trail at scratch time on Wednesday.

The seventh race, run over a mile on turf, is the only grass race in the pick six. There are 11 runners. Salford City, who ran in the English Derby last year, and Place Cowboy, an impressive maiden winner at this meeting, will lead the betting. There will be support for Urban King, who drew post 2.

The final race is run over six furlongs for maiden claimers. Loosenmyshoes, who drew the rail, is scratched. Manofthehour is the 2-1 morning-line favorite, but must beat Humorous Guy and Free Rocket.
