California Flag will be trained up to the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.

Friday’s Eddie D Stakes, honoring Hall of Fame jockey Eddie Delahoussaye, will have a full field, but there is one notable absence.

California Flag, winner of the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, is not ready for a start this week and will be trained up to the BC Turf Sprint on Nov. 3, trainer Brian Koriner said.

An 8-year-old, California Flag has made one start this year, winning the San Simeon Handicap on the hillside turf course in April.

The Eddie D field includes Shrug, winner of the Green Flash Handicap at Del Mar last month.

Santa Anita will have a ni ne-race program on Friday’s opening day.

I look to Lakerville to avenge his loss to Shrug, he was closing like a freight train and I give him the edge in the Eddie D.
