ARCADIA, Calif. - Byrama, winner of two sprint stakes on turf for fillies and mares, was supplemented for $3,000 on Friday for Monday’s $150,000 Buena Vista Stakes. The Grade 2 Buena Vista Stakes is run over a mile for fillies and mares on turf and will be Byrama’s first race at that distance since a fourth in the Sandy Blue Handicap on turf at Del Mar last August. Owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Byrama was third in the Wishing Well Stakes here Feb. 10. The quick turnaround from the Wishing Well to the Buena Vista does not concern trainer Simon Callaghan. Byrama was beaten 4 1/2 lengths by Purim’s Dancer in the Wishing Well, closing from seventh in the final furlong. “She came out of the race so good and she really only raced the last eighth of a mile,” Callaghan said. “She didn’t lose weight.” The Buena Vista field of eight is led by Mizdirection, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint here in November.
