ARCADIA, Calif. – Bright Thought, winner of the Grade 2 San Luis Rey Stakes on March 16 in his stakes debut, will be pointed to the Arlington Million in August, co-owner Alex Venneri and trainer Jorge Gutierrez said Friday. Bright Thought was considered a candidate for the $500,000 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs on May 4 in the days after the San Luis Rey, but is not expected to race again until mid-summer. Gutierrez said Friday that the 4-year-old Bright Thought will be jogged for 30 days before resuming more serious training. “He’s a horse that needs firmer turf,” Gutierrez said. Gutierrez is hoping to find such turf conditions at Arlington Park for the Arlington Million on Aug. 17. A 4-year-old colt by Hat Trick, Bright Thought is likely to have a prep race in July, possibly in the $300,000 Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar on July 20.
