Email

ARCADIA, Calif. – There is a pick six carryover of $91,550 for Sunday’s nine-race program at Santa Anita.

A series of beaten favorites Saturday led to the carryover. The pool of new money Sunday could easily exceed $500,000.

The pick six covers the fourth through ninth races. There is one stakes on Sunday’s card – the Anoakia Stakes – but it is the day’s third race.

As of Saturday morning, there was one early scratch in the pick six races. Take out Krazypapaya from the eighth race.

There will be further scratches Sunday morning since the sixth race has an also-eligible list. The race drew 14, but will have a maximum of 11 runners. Overall, the pick six races have big fields throughout. Beginning in the fourth race, there are fields of nine, 10, 11, 12, 12, and 14 runners.

There are three turf races and three sprints on dirt. The turf races include two sprints on the hillside and one race over a mile.

I saw this on TVG not that long ago. They singled the 8th race with Blazen All Star a 15/1 shot. Personally, I never would have done this because I am a big fan of jockey Nakatani and I would bet on him even if he was saddled on Zippy Chippy. They didn't even mention him. So, I just don't know about these Pick Six tickets. they are very difficult and even more so when the stakes are high. I will stick to betting exactas, but I will be interested to see how their 72 dollar ticket does today.
