Sand Cove winner of Ontario-sired racing rewards program

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Sand Cove, who earned $379,055 in stakes races last season, has been named the overall winner of the local Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society’s 2010 Ontario-sired racing rewards program.

The program is based on earnings in the province’s black-type stakes races with prizes for the breeders of the top two finishers in each of six categories.

A $10,000 bonus and $2,000 Ontario-sired stallion breeding certificate is awarded for first place, with a $5,000 bonus and $1,000 certificate going to the runner-up.

As the overall rewards program winner, Sand Cove also earned his breeders James and Janine Everatt and J. Arika Everatt-Meeuse an additional $10,000 bonus and $2,000 certificate.

Sand Cove, 6-year-old, was tops in the older male category with Fifty Proof’s stakes earnings of $222,408 good for second place.
Impossible Time ($281,094) led the older females with Bent Attorney ($88,506) next in line.

Mobil Unit ($144,835) and Race for Gold ($135,063) headed the 3-year-old males, while Jacally ($189,507) and Dancing Raven ($127,066) were the 3-year-old filly award recipients.

Celtic Conviction ($148,230) and Citius ($81,712) led the 2-year-old males, with Tree Pose ($125,468)) and Lucky Be Me ($93,471) the 2-year-old filly winners.
