San Siro: Campanologist seeks another Group 1 in Gran Premier Jockey Club Italiano

Campanologist, the well-traveled 6-year-old owned by Godolphin Racing, seeks his second consecutive Group 1 win in Sunday’s Gran Premier Jockey Club Italiano at San Siro racecourse.

Last month, Campanologist won the Group 1 Preis Von Europa in Cologne, Germany. Earlier this year, he raced in England and Turkey.

Campanologist will be ridden by Frankie Dettori in Sunday’s race, which is run over about 1 1/2 miles and has a purse of approximately $411,000. The Italian stakes winner Sneak A Peek is another top contender in the field of six.

In Sunday’s Group 2 Prix du Conseil de Paris at Longchamp, Vadamar will attempt to end a three-race losing streak since April in a race over 1 1/2 miles. Vadamar was seventh in the English Derby in June and third in the Group 2 Prix Neil at Longchamp on Sept. 11.

Vadamar has six rivals in the Prix du Conseil, which is worth $179,400.
