Email

Grade 3 winner San Pablo has been retired and will stand the 2014 breeding season at Lere Visagie’s Rockridge Stud in Hudson, N.Y. The 5-year-old son of Jump Start, a seven-time stakes winner over three seasons of racing, will stand for a fee of $2,500 payable when the foal stands and nurses.

Campaigned by breeder Dan Bearden’s Burning Sands Stable and trained by Todd Pletcher, San Pablo won 10 of 19 races overall, with five seconds and one third, and earned $595,000. He won the 2012 Grade 3 Philip H. Iselin Stakes at Monmouth Park and also won six other listed stakes at four different tracks, including three at Aqueduct. In his final start last August, he finished second by a head in the Philip H. Iselin to Last Gunfighter. San Pablo posted six three-digit Beyer Speed Figures for his career.

San Pablo is out of the winning Silver Ghost mare Hunt’s Corner, and is a half-brother to Grade 2-placed stakes winner and $600,000 earner Slider. He joins leading 2013 New York general sire Bluegrass Cat, D’Funnybone, Giant Surprise, Pomeroy, Posse, Soaring Empire, and Trinniberg on Rockridge’s 2014 stud roster.
