Sam Houston track report

Native Annie, who picked up her third stakes victory of the Sam Houston Race Park meet in last Saturday night's $40,000 Double Your Flavor, has been nominated to the $100,000 Doubledogdare at Keeneland April 20, said John Adger, racing and bloodstock manager for her owner, Stonerside Stable.

Adger said that Native Annie is at Keeneland with trainer Mike Stidham, and that "Mike is going to look around and see what makes sense for her here over the next month or so. Long-term, our goal will be the race she won last year, the Allen Bogan at Lone Star. But in the meantime, we'll just see how things shake out. She's up at Keeneland, then Mike goes to Arlington."

The $100,000 Allen Bogan is set for July 9.

During the Sam Houston meet, Native Annie also won the $75,000 Martanza and the $40,000 Tomball. She won on turf in the Tomball, and that creates even more options for Native Annie, a 4-year-old daughter of Manzotti.

"If the right race comes up, we would run her back on the grass again," said Adger.

* There will be a $2,500 online handicapping contest at Sam Houston's website, www.shrp.com, tied into the $200,000 Connally Breeders' Cup on April 9. There are two other stakes supporting the race, the $50,000 Jersey Lily and the $50,000 Sam Houston Turf Sprint.
