Sam Houston signal restricted

Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, which was to open a Quarter Horse meet Thursday night, has been restricted from sending its signal to account-wagering sites such as Television Games Network, XpressBet, and Youbet. The Texas Horsemen's Partnership, in conjunction with the Texas Horsemen's Group, has withheld the track's signal from going to such sites, according to a release issued by Sam Houston on Wednesday.

"At this time, we are working diligently with the Texas Horsemen's Partnership to resolve these issues," said Eric Johnston, vice president of racing at Sam Houston. "However, that could change if the issue is not resolved in a timely manner. We will continue to monitor the situation and are hopeful that we can come to a resolution."

Johnston said purses will not be immediately affected by the dispute.

A number of racetracks around the country are having their signals blacked out from account-wagering platforms in a revenue dispute between the tracks and horsemen. Sam Houston's meet for Quarter Horses runs through Sept. 13.
