Pleasantly Blessed picked up the third stakes win of her career Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park, when she rallied for a one-length win over Artemus Kitten in the $50,000 Jersey Lilly. It was another neck back in third to Always in My Heart. The Jersey Lilly was a 1 1/16-mile turf race for fillies and mares. Pleasantly Blessed ($5.80) raced in eighth early as Badness took the field through an opening quarter in 24.09 seconds, a half-mile in 48.80, and six furlongs in 1:13.34. Pleasantly Blessed picked off rivals while going on to cover the distance on a course rated firm in 1:44.01. “I had a pretty good trip,” said winning rider Roman Chapa. “She did everything she was asked and I was just the pilot.” Pleasantly Blessed, who races for her trainer, Steve Asmussen, has now won 11 of 30 starts and $409,586.
