Sam Houston: 'Jolie' can rebound

Simply Jolie, who has won three of five career starts, can get back in the win column in Saturday night's $30,000 Super Bowl for 3-year-old fillies at Sam Houston Race Park.

The six-furlong race is named in honor of Houston being the host site for the Super Bowl on Feb. 1.

Simply Jolie comes into the race on the heels of a third-place finish in the $40,000 Genesis at Delta Downs, beaten 5 3/4 lengths by Grade 3 winner Wacky Patty. Prior to that race, she won the $40,000 Dixie Belle, also at Delta.

Don Simington has the mount on Simply Jolie for owner Jack Meyer and trainer Chad Hassenpflug.

Clever Melody finished in front of Simply Jolie last out when second in the Genesis. It was a career effort for Clever Melody, and the 82 Beyer Speed Figure she earned is the highest last-race number in the Super Bowl.

Adrian Ramos has the mount for trainer Jim Hudson.

Also in the six-horse field is Rare Glitter, who ships in from Sunland after finishing third in a two-other-than allowance. Prior to that race, she ran a big second to Questionable Past in the $35,000 Miss Houston Stakes.

Jeremy Beasley has the mount for trainer Steve Asmussen. Each leads his respective standings at Sam Houston.
