Email

Grade 2 winner Salute the Sarge was sold to Saudi Arabian interests at the conclusion of the 2015 breeding season and will stand there in 2016.

The 10-year-old son of Forest Wildcat previously stood at E.A. Ranches in Ramona, Calif., where he was most recently advertised for a fee of $1,000.

Salute the Sarge has sired four crops of racing age, with 90 winners and combined progeny earnings of more than $5.2 million through Sunday. His runners are led by multiple Grade 3 winner Salutos Amigos, Uruguyan champion Grand Salute, and stakes winners Bond Vigilante, Little Miss Lupe, Fishin Frank, Oneotwo, and High Blade. Salute the Sarge also sired Adaak, who finished third in Saudi Arabia’s Group 1 King Abdulaziz Cup.

Bred in Kentucky by Gulf Coast Farms, Salute the Sarge won 4 of 12 starts for earnings of $346,639, highlighted by victories in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes and Grade 3 Hollywood Juvenile Championship Stakes, and runner-up efforts in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity and Norfolk Stakes.

Salute the Sarge is out of the Grade 2-placed Silver Ghost mare Dixie Ghost, whose six foals were all winners, also including Grade 3 winner Chelokee and Grade 2-placed stakes winner Mymich. He is from the family of Grade 1 winner Dismasted.
