Grade 2 winner and young sire Salute the Sarge will relocate to stand the 2015 breeding season at E.A. Ranches in Ramona, Calif., for an advertised fee of $1,000, which will be waived for approved mares. The 9-year-old son of Forest Wildcat previously stood at Elite Thoroughbreds in Folsom, La., for an advertised fee of $2,500. He was Louisiana’s leading freshman sire in 2012. Salute the Sarge has sired three crops of racing age. His best runners are led by Grade 3 winner Salutos Amigos, stakes winners Bond Vigilante, Fishin Frank, and Oneotwo, and Uruguayan champion Grand Salute. Bred in Kentucky by Gulf Coast Farms, Salute the Sarge won 4 of 12 starts for earnings of $346,639, highlighted by wins in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes and Grade 3 Hollywood Juvenile Championship Stakes. He also earned runner-up finishes in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity and Norfolk Stakes. Salute the Sarge is out of the Grade 2-placed Silver Ghost mare Dixie Ghost, whose six foals are all winners, including Grade 3 winner Chelokee and Grade 2-placed stakes winner Mymich. Salute the Sarge will be available for inspection by appointment at E.A. Ranches at the beginning of December.
