Sale levels off

One day after Keeneland's January 2005 all-ages auction surpassed last year's total income, Friday's next-to-last session saw prices winding down.

Friday's top price was $90,000 for the broodmare prospect Courriel and the broodmare Hash It Out.

Kingswood Farm, agent, purchased Courriel from Trackside Farm (Tom Evans), agent. A 4-year-old French Deputy filly, Courriel is out of Reboot, making her a half-sister to Group 1-placed Rebuttal.

McMahon Bloodstock, agent, purchased Hash It Out, a 10-year-old Lost Code stakes-winner carrying a Proud Citizen foal. Taylor Made, agent, sold the mare.

The Friday session sold 187 lots for $1,489,800, for an average price of $7,967 and a $4,500 median. Through Thursday, Keeneland had sold 1,009 horses for $50,730,800, outpacing the 2004 revenue of $49,362,600 for 1,258 horses and a pair of stallion seasons.
