Sale horses work on coasts

Juveniles preparing for the Barretts March select sale in California and the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s select sale in Florida completed their sale previews over the weekend, with an Indian Charlie colt and a Langfuhr filly the top one-furlong workers in 10 seconds and 10.20 seconds, respectively.

In Pomona, Calif., the Indian Charlie colt consigned by Allen Jenkins's H.T. Stables agency was the fastest worker Sunday at Fairplex Park, covering one furlong in 10 seconds flat. The bay colt, cataloged as Hip No. 129, is out of the Turkoman mare Tupelo Belle, making him a half-brother to Puerto Rican juvenile champion Mister Fanucci.

The final Barretts preview saw a top quarter-mile time of 21.10 seconds. Three lots shared that time. They were Hip No. 29, a Kissin Kris-Kafaf filly consigned by Kirkwood Stables, agent; Hip No. 46, a Point Given-Merengue colt offered by Ciaran Dunne's Wavertree agency; and Hip No. 75, an Indian Charlie-Pulaski Countess filly consigned by B.C.3. Thoroughbreds, agent.

The Barretts sale was to take place on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Fairplex in Pomona.

In Ocala, Fla., on Saturday, the Langfuhr filly posted the day's fastest one-furlong time of 10.20 seconds. A daughter of Three of a Kind (Carson City), the filly is part of Crupi's New Castle Farm's consignment and sells as Hip No. 566.

A pair of colts by Exploit and Allen's Prospect topped the quarter-mile work tab in 21.60 seconds. Hip No. 320, an Exploit-Meadowlass colt, sells through the Paul Sharp agency, and Hip No. 507, an Allen's Prospect-Silent Turn colt, is offered by Terry Oliver, agent.

The OBS auction will hold its final under-tack preview on Saturday and Sunday. The auction runs March 22-23 at the OBS facility in Ocala; sessions begin at 11 a.m.
