For sale: $9.2M Hurricane Hall

EmailA large portion of Hurricane Hall, a historic farm in Georgetown, Ky., that recently has been refurbished to include a Thoroughbred training facility, has been put up for sale.

The 315-acre portion listed with Bill Justice Real Estate has an asking price of $9,292,500 and does not include the 400-acre farm's stallion facility. Hurricane Hall will stand its first stallions in 2008 with a roster that features 2005 Breeders' Cup Mile winner Artie Schiller, fellow Grade 1 winners English Channel, Silver Wagon, and Bellamy Road, and Grade 2 winner Teuflesberg.

The partnership of Gracefield Farm owner Ben Walden Jr., Bluegrass Farm owner Brad Kelley, owner and breeder Pat Madden, and Irish trainer David Hanley purchased Hurricane Hall privately in late 2005 and set about making improvements to the equine facilities. These included construction of two 20-stall barns and installation of a one-mile uphill Polytrack gallop. Also included in the listed property is the main house, dating from the early 1790s, an indoor one-eighth-mile riding area with a Polytrack base, several other barns, and three employee houses.
