Running Bride tests streak in Miss Indiana

Running Bride has won both her races and will try to extend that streak in the $70,000 Miss Indiana on Saturday at Hoosier Park.

Trained by Eddie Kenneally, Running Bride has been the odds-on favorite in both starts. The daughter of Cherokee Run won at first asking Aug. 14, winning by seven impressive lengths at odds of 4-5. In that race, she came from just off the early pace. In her next out in the City of Anderson, she led every step of the way, again at odds of 4-5, to win by 3 3/4 lengths. Both races were at Hoosier Park, and she was ridden by Rodney Prescott in both events. Prescott will ride again and will have to get his filly to go six furlongs, a half-furlong farther than she has ever raced.

Twelve 2-year-old Indiana-bred fillies were entered in the Miss Indiana.

Red Poison won at first asking Sept. 26 over a muddy Hoosier track. In that six-furlong event, she came from just off the early fast pace to win by a half-length, earning a 52 Beyer Speed Figure, only 3 points behind Running Bride's best. Red Poison will be ridden by Emanuel Cosme once again.

Others in the field include Pannonica, Dreamer of Dreams, Stargazzing, Wu Chow's Auntie, My Cherokee and Ms Red Hawk. There will be two entries: Edgwise and Impressively, and Justice Jackpot and Cellarro.
