Ruler On Ice back at Belmont

Ruler On Ice has rejoined trainer Kelly Breen's barn following a break on an Ocala, Fla., farm.

As trainer Kelly Breen tries to get My Adonis to this year’s Triple Crown series in Saturday’s Wood Memorial, he welcomed Ruler On Ice, last year’s Belmont Stakes winner, back to the barn Thursday.

Ruler On Ice, who has not run since finishing eighth in the Donn Handicap at Gulfstream on Feb. 11, arrived at Belmont on Thursday from a farm in Ocala, Fla.

“He just went six weeks for some R and R,” Breen said. “He’ll have to start from scratch. He was a little banged up, sore all over, needed to recharge the batteries.”

Breen said he did not have a target for Ruler On Ice.

Meanwhile, Breen said he plans to wheel Pants On Fire, fifth in the New Orleans Handicap last weekend, back in the $1 million Charles Town Classic on April 14.

“He came out of the race in good order,” Breen said. “Instead of coming home, we dropped him off in West Virginia for a week.”
