The $134,957 Mountain Top at Ruidoso Downs on Saturday is an equal opportunity futurity. The field of 10 qualifiers for the five-furlong race for New Mexico-breds includes three capable fillies, Lakehouse Fun, Marthas Princess, and Backseat Roll.
Among the top colts and geldings in the race are Kiss My Hennessy, winner of the $120,000 Copper Top Futurity at Sunland Park in April; Indication N M, a winner of 3 of 4 starts; and Roll D’ Nile, who romped by five lengths in his June 8 trial for the Mountain Top.
Kiss My Hennessy exits the same trial as Roll D’Nile, and finished third to that rival as the 2-5 favorite. The race was Kiss My Hennessy’s first in more than seven weeks, and he could move forward in his second start back. Casey Lambert rides for trainer Todd Fincher.
Indication N M won his Mountain Top trial by two lengths over the filly Marthas Princess, his third career score behind a debut win against maiden special weight rivals at Sunland on March 4, and a March 20 trial win for the Copper Top. Isaias Enriquez has the mount for trainer Fred Danley, who will also start Pie Town N M and Dandy Guy, a half-brother to multiple stakes winners Happy Me and I Am Lesters Gal.
◗ All firefighters, responders and others who helped battle a recent wild fire near Ruidoso are being offered free admission to the track’s turf club from Saturday through Monday. To receive the perk, call 575-378-4140 and mention the Little Bear Fire.

ARTIE LUVSTO PARTY has a knack for surprises, with three lifetime wins coming at 33-1, 17-1 & 11-1 (two on this track); entrymate EQUIVOCATION gets major rider switch first off a claim.
