Kiss My Hennessy won the second stakes race of his career Sunday at Ruidoso Downs, when he romped by 6 1/2 lengths in the $172,026 Rio Grande Senor Futurity. The race was the richest offering for Thoroughbreds on a $1.1 million program of 11 stakes restricted to horses bred in New Mexico. The program featured four stakes for Quarter Horses.
Kiss My Hennessy ($3.80) wired the field in the Senor, covering 5 1/2 furlongs on a track rated fast in 1:04.42. Casey Lambert was aboard for trainer Todd Fincher. Earlier this year, Kiss My Hennessy won a division of the $120,000 Copper Top Futurity at Sunland Park. He has now won 3 of 6 starts for owners Scott Bryant and Joe Dee Brooks.
The other major Thoroughbred race on the card was the $159,744 Rio Grande Senorita Futurity, and Back Seat Roll ($20.20) won by a neck over K B’s Princess. She covered 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:05.18. Enrique Gomez rode Back Seat Roll for J. Kirk and Judy Robison and trainer Henry Dominguez.

CLASSIC BRYCE went to the sidelines after tanking in the 2012 Canadian Triple Crown, and has worked solidly for a trainer who's begun the meet with a bang. The beautifully-bred son of Grand Slam is out of G2 turf stakes winner Classic Stamp, who's the dam of a grass winner. SEEKINGTHEDIAMOND ended a streak of seconditis when he romped in a recent maiden special around two turns on the grass at Churchill. The late bloomer possesses a fitness edge on most of these, and should be in the thick of the battle.
