Ruidoso Downs renews future wager on All American Futurity

Ruidoso Downs will again offer the All American Future Wager on Quarter Horse racing's most prestigious offering for 2-year-olds, the All American Futurity, the New Mexico track announced on Friday. The wager will be available from July 15-23, with the $2.4 million All American to be run on Sept. 5.

There will be 23 individual betting interests, as well as an additional interest serving as a field bet. The wager was modeled after the Kentucky Derby Future Wager, and is meant to increase exposure for the All American, which this year will have a record purse.

The All American Future Wager will be open for nine days this year after being available for four days when it was inaugurated last year. The bet will close one day before the running of the Grade 1, $700,000 Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso on July 24.

The All American Future Wager will be available at Ruidoso and wagering outlets around the country. It will also be featured on such national wagering outlets as TVG, according to a release from Ruidoso.

Last year, there was $16,163 bet into the future wager. It paid $11 on a $2 bet after Mr Piloto, who was part of the field, upset the All American at 21-1. American Runaway was the 7-2 favorite for the first All American Future Wager. The field was second choice at 4-1.

The bet has its own website, www.aafuturewager.com.
