Rosario recovering after spill

Jockey Hector Rosario Jr. was "feeling fine" a day after suffering a concussion and separated shoulder in Tuesday's second race at River Downs, according to his agent, Tom Clark. Rosario's mount in the six-furlong maiden race, Painted Dancer, was near the lead approaching the far turn when he stumbled and threw Rosario to the ground.

Rosario was treated for his injuries and released from the University of Cincinnati hospital. Painted Dancer was not seriously injured.

Rosario, 22, was expected to see a bone specialist Thursday in the hope of expediting the recovery process. Clark said Rosario could be out of action for "days or weeks," but that he hoped Rosario could be back working horses within a week.

Through Tuesday, Rosario was second in the jockey standings for the Jockey Club portion of the River Downs meet, which began June 27, and he is the third leading rider overall at River Downs this year.
