In addition to the purse money, the first three winners receive a stallion season from Taylor Made Stallions Inc.

Romacaca scratched out of the Grade 1 Diana at Saratoga on Saturday in favor of this spot. Racing right with the leaders, Romacaca took command at the top of the lane with E.T. Baird aboard for trainer Nick Canani.

“She broke really well,” Baird said. “There were some others in there who had speed so I just let her come out running. She relaxed well enough to have something left in the end.”

A 5-year-old, Romacaca earned her 12th win in 23 starts. The time was 1:46.54 for the 1 1/8 miles on the firm course.

C.S. Silk, the 5-2 favorite, got bounced around at the break and finished last in the 10-horse field.

Teddy Drone: Force Freeze nearly sets track record

Force Freeze flirted with the six-furlong track record in the $103,000 Teddy Drone Stakes.

Force Freeze, making his debut for trainer Peter Walder after finishing ninth in the Grade 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen, was clocked in 1:07.77, just a shade off the mark of 1:07.47 set by Idiot Proof in 1:07.77.

A 6-year-old gelding, Force Freeze earned his seventh win in 10 starts.

“We took our time with him,” said Walder who got the horse in May. “It takes some time to adjust. They told me he didn’t like the polytrack in Dubai, so the switch to dirt helped.”

Paco Lopez was aboard for his fourth winner of the day. He kept Force Field right outside the pacesetting Irrefutable and took charge in the upper stretch. Force Field beat Jersey Town by four lengths with Ravalo third.
