E. Paul Robsham Stables LLC will completely disperse its Thoroughbred breeding stock at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale, which begins Nov. 5 in Lexington, Ky.

Lane’s End Farm will act as agent for the dispersal, which includes several Grade 1 winners and producers. A total of 24 horses will be cataloged, including seven broodmares, three broodmare prospects, 10 yearlings, and four weanlings.

Joyce Robsham will continue to campaign her racing stable, while recently-retired Discreet Dancer, winner of the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap, will be sold privately.

“Together, Paul and Joyce Robsham built a racing and breeding operation that competed at the highest levels of the sport,” Lane’s End Farm’s Bill Farish said. “Since Paul’s death several years ago, Joyce has continued to pursue their passion with great success. She loves her horses, and enjoys every aspect of the game.”

The Robshams became involved in the racing industry in 1983. Paul Robsham, a prominent real estate developer and philanthropist, died in 2004, but Joyce Robsham continued the Thoroughbred operation. That year, the stable was leading owner by wins at Belmont Park’s spring/summer meeting.

The Robshams bred and raced Grade 1 winner Pretty Discreet, and she became their foundation mare, producing Grade 1 winners and young sires Discreet Cat and Discreetly Mine, as well as Discreetly Awesome, the dam of Grade 1 winner Awesome Maria. The Robshams also bred and raced Grade 1 winner R Heat Lightning, along with Grade 2 winners Discreet Dancer and Trippi’s Storm.

Awesome Maria, currently in foal to leading sire Giant’s Causeway, is among the offerings in the Robsham dispersal. The Maria’s Mon mare won nine of 16 career starts, including the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Handicap and six other graded stakes for earnings of $1,114,875. Her dam Discreetly Awesome, in foal to Malibu Moon, will also be offered at the November sale. The unraced mare has produced two winners from as many starters.

Other broodmares featured in the dispersal will be Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes winner R Heat Lightning, in foal to Bernardini; multiple graded stakes winner and Kentucky Oaks runner-up Broadway’s Alibi, in foal to Smart Strike; and multiple Grade 3 winner Feline Story, in foal to Discreetly Mine.

Grade 3 winner R Holiday Mood and stakes winner R Gypsy Gold, both homebreds, will be offered as broodmare prospects.

“The Robshams maintained a small breeding operation of remarkable quality,” Keeneland vice president of sales Walt Robertson said. “We appreciate the opportunity to include such an exceptional offering in the November sale.”
