River Downs track report

The richest race opening weekend at River Downs, an $11,500 allowance last Friday, was expected to be a mere procession for Quote Me Later. The 2004 Arkansas-bred horse of the year, Quote Me Later had run second in the Claiming Crown Rapid Transit last summer and more recently earned a 102 Beyer Speed Figure for a second-place finish at Turfway Park.

Quote Me Later, however, was never a factor in the five-furlong dash and finished last as the 3-5 favorite. The winner, One Bad Dude ($12.80), has consistently been a top player in high-end allowances on the Ohio circuit. One Bad Dude has 4 wins in 11 starts at River Downs and 8 top-two finish at the track.

Though Quote Me Later disappointed for last season's leading owner-trainer team of Billy Hays and Joe Woodard, the pair won its first race of the meet with its next starter, Phantom Chief, in Saturday's third race.
