Friday's featured ninth race at River Downs, a nonwinners-of-four allowance for older Ohio-breds, should have a heavy favorite in Vivid Views, a 4-year-old by Distant View.

A June foal, Vivid Views began his career in Maryland in the fall of 2001 for trainer John Scanlon and owner Daniel Borislow. Vivid Views won only one race for those connections before being claimed for $22,500 by his present owner, Timothy Bochlorn, at Colonial Downs last July.

In his first start for Bochlorn and trainer Austin Smith, Vivid Views finished eighth in the North Randall Stakes at Thistledown, his first race against Ohio-breds. Vivid Views has since won two allowances and finished second behind the tough Devil Time in the restricted Babst Memorial Handicap at Beulah.

In his most recent start, on May 10, Vivid Views finished second, beaten a neck by Brent's Victory. Final time for the mile over muddy going was 1:38.20, the fastest mile run at River Downs in at least four years.

Both Brent's Victory, a winner of 3 of 4 races lifetime, and Vivid Views received a Beyer Speed Figure of 95, suggesting they may become players in the older male division in Ohio later this year.
