River Downs: Floater takes Green Carpet

Floater ($3) continued his dominance of the Ohio-bred 3-year-old ranks with a 1 1/2-length victory in the $45,000 Green Carpet Stakes at River Downs. The Green Carpet, originally scheduled for the turf, was run over a fast main track due to heavy midweek rains. The surface switch resulted in numerous scratches, including Tomboy Stakes winner Outrageous Queen.

Tracking in third behind a slow pace set by Another Freddy, Floater made a sweeping move around the far turn to take the lead, then repelled a late bid along the inside by Dawn's Revenge, who easily held second. Thinksheshot rallied late to finish third.

Ridden by Huber Villa-Gomez and trained by Tim Girten, Floater covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:49.60. Floater's win in the Green Carpet was his sixth in nine career starts and his fourth in stakes company. His career earnings now exceed $167,000.
