Thistledown-based trainer Tim Hamm made it 2 for 2 in stakes at River Downs this year when the 3-year-old gelding Fisticuff ($24.80) rallied from slightly off the pace for a neck victory in the $50,000 Green Carpet Stakes for Ohio-breds. An unexpected factor in the Green Carpet, which was transferred from turf to dirt because of wet conditions, was Tri Uimet, who dumped his rider leaving the gate, ran loose for much of the race, and caused interference to several horses down the backside, including the favorite, Dooze, who eventually held second by a length over Not Broke Yet. Fisticuff, ridden by Jeff Johnston, covered 1 1/16 miles on a muddy track in 1:48.80.
