River Downs: Agressive Elegance, Significant Bling takes Ohio-bred stakes

CINCINNATI - Agressive Elegance overcame a jockey's objection to win the $75,000 Norm Barron Queen City Oaks at River Downs on Saturday.

Trained by Craig Holstein, Agressive Elegance was kept off the pace and behind horses early in the 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-old Ohio-bred fillies. After being steadied on the backstretch, jockey Albin Jiminez moved Agressive Elegance to the outside and rallied to the lead in upper stretch, drawing clear by 2 1/2 lengths. Agressive Elegance drifted in and out under heavy late pressure and the final margin of victory was three-quarters of a length.

Nearing the wire, second-place finisher Bold Model was taken up when the winner drifted out and jockey Ramon Rechy lodged an objection that was ultimately denied by the stewards. Isadella was 4 3/4 lengths back in third. The running time over a fast track was 1.55.07 and Agressive Elegance returned $4 to win.

Jockey Deshawn Parker hustled Significant Bling out of the gate and dueled with stablemate Blazing Bling to upper stretch. Parker then went to work and Significant Bling drew off through the stretch to win by 13 1/2 widening lengths.

Blazing Bling, part of the three-horse Tim Hamm entry, finished second, 2 3/4 lengths in front of Small Town Flirt in third. Significant Bling returned $2.10 to win and ran the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1.05.49 over a fast track.
