Rivalry renewed at Lincoln

Cherishistheword and Bach's Homebrew meet for the third time this year, and both should vie for the role of favorite in the $15,000 Journal Star Stakes for 3-year-olds at Lincoln Race Course.

Cherishistheword got the best of Bach's Homebrew in their last meeting, earning a head victory in the Fonner Park Special on May 8. Bach's Homebrew won the first meeting, an entry-level allowance race in April, by three-quarters of a length.

Cherishistheword will be part of an uncoupled entry for trainer Chuck Turco, who also sends out Beloit Kan Too, an entry-level allowance winner here last Saturday. Luis Ranilla has the mount on Cherishistheword, while Beloit Kan Too will have Jordan Olesiak aboard.

Bach's Homebrew will be part of a coupled entry for trainer Larry

Staroscik along with Bingosablumin. Both are owned by Bluestem Farm. Bingosablumin was fourth in the Fonner Park Special. Regular rider Armando Martinez is on Bach's Homebrew, while Chris Fackler will ride Bingsablumin.

While Cherishistheword typically runs on or near the lead, stablemate Beloit Kan Too has yet to be headed in the opening quarter mile of his races this year. That pace scenario could work to the advantage of Bach's Homebrew, who has shown the versatility to lay back off the pace and make a solid late run.

Bach's Homebrew may rate a slight edge here as he makes his third straight stakes appearance. He made a good rally to challenge inside multiple stakes winner Bet Your Boots in the April 17 Baxter Stakes at Fonner and a repeat of that effort could be the winning move here.
