Right Honorable eyes repeat

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Right Honorable looks like the one to beat in a 6 1/2-furlong first-level allowance race for 3-year-olds that will serve as the feature race at Hastings on Sunday. There is a $50,000 claiming option on the race and Right Honorable, who wasn’t eligible to be claimed when he won a similar race on Sept. 13, has been entered for the price.

Trained by Robbie Anderson, Right Honorable showed a lot of promise when he won a maiden special weight race as a 2-year-old last year. It has been a bit disappointing to his connections that he didn’t win another race until his last start. With Stephanie Fedora aboard, Right Honorable showed a new dimension by making a strong move from off the pace in his last race, and there appears to be enough speed to set him up again on Sunday.

Blasting Gunn, who is trained by Tracy McCarthy, has very good speed and he could be ready for a big effort in his second start this year. Blasting Gunn forced the pace before tiring to finish sixth in the race Right Honorable won. He had been off since he finished up the track in the $110,000 Ascot Graduation last October.

Trainer Rob Gilker elected to scratch Savo Island out of a $35,000 claiming race on Friday to run here. Savo Island was up close for six furlongs before fading to finish last in the $100,000 Emerald Derby on Sept. 1. He should appreciate the easier company and he won’t mind the move back to a sprint.

Brother Jake could be dangerous in his first start facing winners after an impressive win in a maiden special weight race on Sept. 6.
