Rider has eight straight winners


R.D. Williams took command of the local jockey standings at Lincoln State Fair by winning eight straight races over the Friday and Saturday cards.

Williams rode four winners Friday night. He scored aboard even-money favorite My Gal Jeanie in the fourth, then swept the final three races of the night with Lite Source ($7.20) in the sixth, Mason County ($4.80) in the seventh, and Felena ($4.80) in the eighth.

Williams's streak continued into Saturday's nine-race card when he swept the first five races of the afternoon. Williams won the daily double aboard Sundayblummer ($4) and Tiger Prince ($5.40). He went on to win the third with Asa Diamonds ($9.80), the fourth aboard Joe Holster ($9), and fifth with Whats Gonna ($4).

Williams leads the rider standings at Lincoln this season 17-8 over Dennis Collins.
