Richetta looks obvious

Richetta, an easy winner of the Maryland Million Lassie in her most recent start, towers over the five other 2-year-old fillies entered in Saturday's $60,000 Heavenly Cause, a seven-furlong race for Maryland-breds at Laurel Park.

Trained by Robin Graham, Richetta is the only runner in the field with more than a maiden victory and the lone filly with stakes experience. She cruised to a 4 1/2-length victory over nine rivals, earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 78, in the seven-furlong Maryland Million Lassie on Oct. 11.

"She is a very nice filly and does it extremely easily," said Ramon Dominguez, who will ride Richetta for the third time. "In that last race I asked her to move at the quarter pole and she just opened up under a hand ride. She acts as if she'd be able to run all day."

The lone horse within 20 points of Richetta on the Beyer scale is Patriots Image. Patriots Image comes off an 8 1/2-length victory, worth a 73 Beyer, against maidens at Delaware and is cross-entered in the one-mile Blue Hen at her home track.

A win by any of the other four entrants, including the maiden Dance Fee, would be a major surprise.
