Rhagori (3) surges under Joe Talamo to prevail by a neck in the Swingtime Stakes.

ARCADIA, Calif. - Rhagori won the first stakes of her career in Saturday’s $83,100 Swingtime Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita, zooming a mile on turf in a quick 1:33.91.

Ridden by Joe Talamo, Rhagori ($24.80) caught pacesetter Kathleen Rose in the final strides to win by a neck. Kathleen Rose, the 7-5 favorite, held second, finishing a length in front of Floral Romance.

Theatre Star was fourth, followed by Heat Du Jour, Premier Steps, Ana Luisa, and Oscar Party

Rhagori won four minor races in England before arriving in the United States last fall. Trained by Simon Callaghan for Michael House, Rhagori won her American debut in an optional claimer in March, but lost her next five starts, including a third in the restricted Osunitas Stakes at Del Mar on July 19.

A 5-year-old mare by Exceed and Excel, Rhagori was fifth in the CTT and TOC Handicap over 1 3/8 miles on turf at Del Mar on Aug. 22, her most recent start prior to Saturday. The Swingtime Stakes was restricted to fillies and mares who had not won a stakes worth $60,000 or more at a mile or over, other than statebred races, in 2014.

Rhagori has won 6 of 21 starts and earned $157,796.
