Retraceable rallies wide in Princess Elizabeth

Retraceable circled into contention on the far turn en route to a comfortable victory in the $250,800 Princess Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday at Woodbine.

Retraceable ($6.20) raced in midpack on the backstretch of the 1 1/16-mile route for 2-year-old fillies. Sanguine set a lively pace while being tracked by favored High Mist, who hit the front nearing the three-eighths pole before fading at the quarter pole.

Retraceable commenced a wide rally approaching the far turn and took control at the head of the stretch before getting home on top by 3 1/4 lengths over Milwaukee Appeal. Flashy Got Even rallied for third, and High Mist wound up fifth in the seven-horse field of Canadian-breds.

"She ran a dynamite race," said Patrick Husbands, who rode Retraceable. "She showed that she's back to her game."

Retraceable banked $150,000 in her first stakes win for a partnership headed by trainer Mark Casse and Tina Casse.
