Retired OBS director of sales Gulick dies at 92


Bob Gulick, former director of sales at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co., died on Aug. 30 in Ocala, Fla. He was 92.

Gulick, a World War II and Korean War Army veteran and a graduate of Ohio State University, worked at the Ohio Thoroughbred Center for 10 years and also bred and owned horses before joining OBS, according to published obituaries.

Gulick served as director of sales at OBS from 1978 to 1995 and remained affiliated with the sale company until 2012. Gulick helped to create the OBS “Day of Champions” racing series, open to graduates of the OBS auctions, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.

Gulick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Florine, daughters Regina Gulick-James and Rebecca Gulick, sons Joe, Jim, Doug, Jeff, and Chris, and 15 grandchildren.

A memorial service for Bob Gulick will be held on Sept. 27 at 12:30 p.m. Eastern at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Hospice of Marion County.
