Retama: Ss Poker Face Dream tests streak in Sires’ Cup Futurity

Ss Poker Face Dream, who has won all three of his starts, will attempt to continue his streak Saturday night in the Grade 2, $101,950 Sires’ Cup Futurity for Quarter Horses at Retama Park. He is part of a 10-horse field that includes Grade 3 winner Rc Had to Be My Day.

Ss Poker Face Dream has won his races by a combined margin of six lengths, his latest a 2 1/4-length romp in his trial for the Sires’ Cup. He rallied from just off the pace, and before that won on the front end in a maiden race and an allowance, both at Sam Houston.

◗ Sweet Oblivion will be seeking her third straight win when she takes on males in the $50,000 New Mexico Adequan Derby Challenge Finale at Ruidoso Downs on Saturday. Sweet Oblivion enters off a dominant, 3 1/2-length trial win in which she covered 400 yards in 19.86 seconds, the fastest qualifying time for the series.
