With repeat of last effort, Star's Kandi Kane can win

Star's Kandi Kane fired a career race in her last start and with a repeat of the effort can win the $40,000 Black Mesa at Remington Park on Sunday. She will be starting against Oklahoma-breds for the first time in her career in the six-furlong race, which also drew Racing Sundown, winner of the $40,000 Oklahoma Classic Day Distaff.

Other contenders in the race include Jet G Pride, Prado Lady, Rammers Best, and Frilly Fun.

Star's Kandi Kane rolled to a 1 1/2-length win in a six-furlong optional claiming race last out, covering the distance in 1:09.80. She was flattered when the second- and third-place finishers from the race returned to win their next starts. Star's Kandi Kane has worked well since the win, drilling a pair of bullet five-furlong works in 59.60 seconds at Remington.

Quincy Hamilton has the mount for trainer C.R. Trout.

Racing Sundown will be cutting back to one turn after leading throughout last time in the two-turn Distaff, a statebred race. She drew clear by 7 1/4 lengths for trainer Larry Brown.

Frilly Fun is a stakes winner who will be dangerous if she runs back to her summer efforts at Fair Meadows Tulsa.
