Remsen preview

Aqueduct - Race 7
Remsen Stakes (Grade 2)
1 1/8 Miles
Purse $200,000

Trip handicapping is often more valuable than speed figure analysis in baby races, but it's hard to ignore the huge Beyer advantage that NOBIZ LIKE SHOBIZ owns over his Remsen opposition. A strapping son of stamina influence Albert the Great, he should handle the extra distance without much fuss, and his Champagne was an impressive learning effort. He was pinched from both sides at the start, and was eating dirt all the way up the backstretch. He angled off the rail turning for home, and put up a prolonged stretch battle with a pair of more experienced juveniles. They'll have to have them nailed on tight to beat him on Saturday. TIMBER RESERVE's only bad race came in his debut when he attempted to rally wide over a speed-favoring track. He has speed and the rail, but may have to deal with MARINA MARKET in the early stages. Marina Market improved considerably with the addition of blinkers and Lasix, and figures to be prominent when the field turns for home. He'll get a very stern class test, however. SIGHTSEEING faced a very promising 2-year-old in Day Pass in the Nashua, and he has plenty of stamina in his pedigree. He reunites with Edgar Prado, and should get enough pace to adequately setup his late kick. SUMMER DOLDRUMS may have been aided by an inside-biased surface when winning his maiden at 6/1 odds. He will likely have to rate in this spot.

Selections: 1. Nobiz Like Shobiz 2. Timber Reserve 3. Marina Market
