Remington: Wind Twister streaking

Email

Wind Twister has whirled through her conditions and will be looking for her fourth straight victory Friday when she takes on Malika's Gold in the $40,000 E.L. Gaylord Memorial at Remington Park in Oklahoma City. The 6 1/2-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies drew 12 starters.

Wind Twister has won stakes in her last two starts, taking the Kansas Thoroughbred Association Futurity on Oct. 17 and the $20,000 Woodlands Juvenile over males on Oct. 31. She also defeated males when she won an allowance on Oct. 8. Cindy Noll has the mount on Wind Twister, who races for her breeder, Orion Stables, and is trained by Jim McCoy.

Malika's Gold figures to be the biggest stretch threat. She cuts back to one turn after racing around two, with her biggest score coming in the $100,000 La Senorita at a mile on turf at Retama on Sept. 4. She is a winner around one turn, too, having romped by 7 1/4 lengths in her five-furlong debut at Canterbury in July. Trainer Randy Oberlander has given the mount to Cliff Berry.
