Remington: Streak on line in Ricks

Cherylville Slew has been unstoppable this summer, winning her last three starts, including two stakes. Sunday, she will attempt to extend her streak in the $40,000 Ricks Memorial at Remington Park, and is training like a bear for the task.

"She's coming into it full of run," said C.R. Trout, who trains Cherylville Slew. "She worked a bullet. She worked in 59 [seconds] and change and is just on tilt."

Cherylville Slew won an allowance at Lone Star Park on June 16 and proceeded to win the $50,000 Margarita Breeders' Cup at Retama Park on July 24 and the $50,000 Sangue Handicap at Louisiana Downs on Aug. 14.

Trout said he is hopeful there will be a good pace in the Ricks to fuel the late run of Cherylville Slew. She will face nine others in the one-mile turf race for fillies and mares.

Storm Breaking will be making her turf debut in the Ricks for trainer Donnie Von Hemel. A winner of 3 of 5 starts, Storm Breaking is a daughter of Storm Cat and the four-time stakes winning mare Sigrun, who earned $429,119.

Don Pettinger will ride Storm Breaking, and Kevin Cogburn will be aboard Cherylville Slew.

Also in the field is Kristina's Wish, who will be ridden by leading jockey Cliff Berry. Claimed for $10,000 earlier this year, Kristina's Wish won four consecutive races at Lone Star over the summer and also placed third in the Margarita Breeders' Cup.
