Email

Steal Your Face won the $50,000 Silver Goblin for the second time in three years on Friday, when he edged Gleaming by a neck in the Oklahoma-bred stakes that highlighted a special afternoon card at Remington Park.

Steal Your Face’s first win in the 6 1/2- furlong sprint came by a nose in 2009.

Steal Your Face ($10) had one horse beat in the early stages of this year’s renewal, as Ninilchik set a pressured pace of 22.14 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.08 for the half-mile. Steal Your Face rallied to cover the distance in 1:15.43. Gleaming held second, a length and a quarter in front of third-place finisher and favorite Okie Ride.

Luis Quinonez rode Steal Your Face for Rusty Roberts and trainer Roger Engel. The Holzmeister gelding has now won five stakes and eight races overall, and the $30,000 first-place check he picked up Friday pushed his career earnings to $317,052.
