Remington requests 67 days in 2009

Remington Park has asked the Oklahoma Racing Commission for a 67-date Thoroughbred meet for 2009. The request, as well as proposed dates from the state's three other tracks, will all be considered at a commission meeting Nov. 20.

Remington's dates request closely mirrors its current meet. The track is seeking to open on Aug. 21 and run through Dec. 13. Remington also has asked for 50 dates for Quarter Horses for next year, from March 6 through May 31.

In the biggest proposed change to the state's racing calendar, Blue Ribbon Downs in Sallisaw, which is in the midst of a 67-day mixed meet featuring Quarter Horses, is seeking just 43 days of racing for 2009. It has asked for a mixed meet from July 31 to Nov. 28. The meet would run primarily Quarter Horses.

In other 2009 dates requests, Will Rogers Downs in Claremore is seeking a 44-date mixed meet from Feb. 28 through May 23. The meet would run primarily Thoroughbreds

Fair Meadows at Tulsa is seeking a 34-date mixed meet for next year, from June 4 through July 26.
