Remington: Pucker Up Pete goes for fifth straight in Turf Sprint

Email

Pucker Up Pete will be seeking to win his fifth straight race when he makes his stakes debut in Friday night’s $50,000 Remington Park Turf Sprint. The five-furlong turf race is for 3-year-olds and up bred in Oklahoma. Others making up the six-horse field include defending champ Conkigo and multiple stakes winner and first-time turfer Okie Ride.

Pucker Up Pete has gone straight up the class ladder since he began his streak in a $5,000 claiming race at Will Rogers Downs near Tulsa on May 6. He proceeded to win a $15,000 claiming race and then two allowances, between Fair Meadows in Tulsa and Remington.

Pucker Up Pete won a Remington allowance in his turf debut, and put up a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 87. The number is the best last-race Beyer in the Turf Sprint. Cody Worst, who has been aboard Pucker Up Pete throughout his streak, has the mount for owner-trainer Donald G. Trett.

Remington on Friday will introduce a $15,000 guaranteed pool on its Primetime Pick 4, the pick four that runs on the final four races of the program. The guaranteed pool will be offered every Friday night this meet at Remington.
