Remington Park: Valid A.J. escapes rival in Oklahoma Stallion Stakes

Valid A.J. will finally shake the undefeated Now I Know on Saturday night when she runs in the $50,000 Oklahoma Stallion Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Remington Park. Her nemesis will be at Delta Downs to compete in the Grade 3, $500,000 Princess.

Valid A.J. has had the misfortune of hooking Now I Know in three of her four career starts. After winning her maiden at Prairie Meadows in her debut in July, she shipped to Remington Park and had her first run-in with Now I Know in a first-level allowance against open company Sept. 14. Valid A.J. was fourth. One start later, Valid A.J. managed a second-place finish to Now I Know in an Oklahoma-bred allowance Oct. 12. then was third to her last out in the $81,000 Oklahoma Classics Day Lassie on Oct. 28.

Alex Birzer, who has ridden Valid A.J. in each of her starts, has the call for owner-breeder Poindexter Thoroughbreds and trainer Lynn Chleborad. The field of seven fillies also includes Wild Karen, Scrappy Coco, and Jealous Ellis, who each last faced Now I Know.
