Remington Park: Quarter Horse stakes schedule worth $4.9 million
Email
Remington Park in Oklahoma City will offer 39 stakes worth $4.9 million during its Quarter Horse meet that opens March 8. The 50-date season will run through June 2.
The richest offering will be the Grade 1, $1 million Heritage Place Futurity on June 1. Trials for the race will be run May 10-11. The Heritage Place Futurity anchors a blockbuster card that will include the Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Championship, which offers its winner an automatic berth into the Grade 1, $750,000 Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos each December. The June 1 program also will feature the Heritage Place Derby.
Remington will card a number of Challenge Stakes on May 12, topped by the Grade 2, $100,000 Oklahoma Challenge Championship. The races offer berths into the American Quarter Horse Association’s annual Challenge Championships, which this year will be held at Los Alamitos.
Other major stakes this coming season will include the Remington Park Futurity for Oklahoma-breds on April 20. Last year, the race was worth $720,000.
Remington will race on a Thursday-through-Sunday schedule.
Best Bets
MOST HAPPY FELLA, reclaimed from last, drops to easier spot after setting pressured pace vs. odds-on Pinball; both wins last year came on this track. ARTIE LUVSTO PARTY has a knack for surprises, with three lifetime wins coming at 33-1, 17-1 & 11-1 (two on this track); entrymate EQUIVOCATION gets major rider switch first off a claim. PURE ATTITUDE among top 3 in wins & earnings and snug fit to date clause.
