Remington Park: Honey's Ryan romps in Gaylord

Email

Honey’s Ryan shot to the lead at the start and never looked back for a six-length win over Bakken Baby in the $50,000 E.L. Gaylord Memorial at Remington Park on Friday night. It was another length back in third to Forever Since.

Honey’s Ryan was the 4-5 favorite in the Gaylord, a 6 1/2-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies from which her highly-regarded entrymate, Beau Ravelle, was scratched. Honey’s Ryan ($3.80) took the field through an opening quarter in 22.31 seconds, then proceeded to increase her advantage through a half-mile in 44.84 seconds. She went on to cover the distance on a track rated fast in 1:16.15.

Alex Birzer was aboard for trainer Scott E. Young.

Honey’s Ryan came into the Gaylord off a seven-length maiden special weight win at Remington in her second career start Sept. 27. She races for the partnership of Rusty Taylor, Elaine Holliday, Jerry and Margaret Davis, and Mike Walker. Honey’s Ryan, who is a daughter of Student Council, was bred by the University of Kentucky.
