Remington Park

Medium Rare, who has won four of his last six races, should get a perfect stalking trip behind a number of speed horses in the $25,000 Autumn Classic Handicap on Friday at Remington Park in Oklahoma City. Special post for the first race is 2:30 p.m. Central.

Others expected for the six-furlong race for Oklahoma-breds include front-runners Abbi's Choice, who just missed winning an overnight stakes in his last start; and Slewmeister, who worked a bullet five furlongs in 59.69 seconds in preparation for his first start since April 21.

Medium Rare has won two stakes in three starts at the current meet, taking the opening night $25,000 Chuck Taliaferro Memorial by 2 1/2 lengths, and the restricted $50,000 Oklahoma Classics Day Sprint by 7 1/2 lengths over some of the same rivals he faces in the Autumn Classic.

"He's a horse who likes to win. He thrives on it," trainer Roger Engel said of Medium Rare, who has won 10 of 22 career starts. "I'm looking for another good race from him. It looks like there's a lot of pace in there, which I like. It will let him do his running the last part."

R.D. Williams has the mount on Medium Rare for owner J.D.R. Stables.
