Remington meet ending


The 2003 Quarter Horse meet at Remington Park wraps up on Sunday afternoon with Frostys Money Man going for his fourth derby win in the Grade 1, $78,915 Remington Park Derby.

Also set to race on the closing-day card is Freada Maxine, the fastest qualifier to the Grade 1, $178,359 Remington Park Futurity.

Frostys Money Man, trained by Rodney Reed, has become the leading 3-year-old in Oklahoma this year with wins in the Grade 1 Heritage Place Derby, the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby, and the Grade 3 Blue Ribbon Derby.

Frostys Money Man has won 8 of 9 starts this year, including a 1 1/2-length victory in his Remington Park Derby trial.

Your Cash Treat, winner of the Red Earth Handicap, comes into the derby with two victories in two starts this year at Remington Park, including her derby trial win by 2 3/4 lengths, with the fastest qualifying time of 20.092 seconds for 400 yards.

Freada Maxine will try to gain a national reputation when she brings fastest-qualifier status into the Remington Park Futurity.

The filly, trained by Donnie Strickland, has three wins and a second in four starts. She rolled to a 2 1/4-length Remington Park Futurity trial win in 17.923 seconds for the 350 yards.

Freada Maxine will have to beat Shebester Futurity winner Counting on Colors and Lazy E Futurity winner Blazen Madie. They each won their Remington Park Futurity trials.
